WOMEN OF STEEL
In contemporary Singapore, being a parent, let alone a mother is an arduous journey that requires considerable grit, resolve and will.
Undertaking this responsibility would indefinitely test the mettle of anyone in this fast-paced society, alongside its high cost of living. Being no stranger to the parenting scene is Miss Yan Kay Kay, a mother of two, who impressively co-founded Supersenji in 2018 alongside fellow influencer and business owner, Miss Jun Ying.
As a mother herself, Miss Yan understands the concerns of weight- gain during pregnancy. She had previously tried slimming pills, which culminated in numerous side effects such as an elevated heart rate that landed her in the hospital. It was this reason that gave impetus to Miss Yan’s entrepreneurship journey, in which she decided to sell weight-loss products without harmful side effects that would resonate with fellow moms.
“I try to be present in the moment. By splitting my day into separate windows, work time is for work and family time is for family.”
– Miss Yan on juggling between her entrepreneurship journey whilst being an internet personality, a wife and a mom.
VENTURING INTO THE UNKNOWN
Initially, Miss Yan and Miss Jun Ying were avid consumers of Susenji products themselves. Having a weaker digestive system, Miss Yan’s husband previously went for colonoscopy at Mount Elizabeth Hospital when she casually mentioned about the Susenji Mofa+, a detoxification drink that aids in digestion and constipation without the addition of laxatives. Unbeknownst to her, the doctor revealed that many patients were also consuming this drink, for its ingredients are widely utilized and approved in the hospital.
When they first started out, Miss Yan and Miss Jun Ying purchased 50 tubes of Susenji Slimming Gel from the manufacturer, a gel with skin whitening and fat burning properties. As they enjoyed the product themselves, they adopted a “nothing to lose” mentality and ventured valiantly into the unknown. Since then, Supersenji has expanded substantially, ordering over twenty thousand products from the manufacturer per month.
“TAKE THE LEAP OF FAITH, PUT YOUR HEART IN IT. ADOPT A NO FEAR APPROACH TOWARDS ENTREPRENEURSHIP”
– MISS YAN
“DON’T OVERTHINK, THE FEAR OF FAILURE HINDERS MANY ASPIRING ENTREPRENEURS. IF YOU NEVER TAKE THE PLUNGE, HOW DO YOU SUCCEED?”
– MISS JUN YING
Since its incorporation in 2018, Supersenji has served as the first official distributor of Susenji products in Singapore. They boast an arsenal of authentic weight-loss and beauty products which are second to none. Most notably, the Susenji Shake Meal Replacement offers a low-calorie alternative of a mere 140kcals to the average meal, containing 19 minerals and multi-vitamins that will deliver efficacious results. Made with pure cocoa, the Susenji Shake also offers triple protection to consumers with gastric issues.
What also makes Supersenji stand out from the crowd is their product safety, which is unparalleled in the industry. All five Supersenji products have been rigorously tested by SGS, a leading food testing company, over a span of 4 weeks to ensure that their products are safe for pregnant and breastfeeding women. Another salient feature of their business strategy is the flexibility and quality of service by Miss Yan and Miss Jun Ying, which have attributed to their high customer retention rates.
NOT ALWAYS A BED OF ROSES…
The entrepreneurship journey of Miss Yan and Miss Jun Ying was certainly not a bed of roses. When we define or measure success, we often notice the tangible, material achievements and statistics. However, we tend to overlook the intangibles, such as the amount of effort and dedication; the heart and soul poured into the development of Supersenji, especially during its early stages. Initially, their products were met with skepticism and uncertainty by potential consumers. Compounding the problem was the onset of the covid-19 pandemic, which further exacerbated product sales and agent recruitment.
Nevertheless, the indomitable spirit and unwavering resolve of Miss Yan and Miss Jun Ying were especially elucidated during these trying times. As agents themselves, they actively educated consumers about their products whilst establishing trust with their clients. This provided Supersenji with a strong foundation, in which they recruited new agents from existing consumers who could thereafter share their personal experiences with the product. Eyeing the covid-19 crisis as an opportunity, Miss Yan and Miss Jun Ying actively recruited new agents during the lockdown as many people were looking at alternative modes of income. As of today, Supersenji has expanded at an exhilarating rate, with over 1000 agents in Singapore and 3000 agents globally.
“FOR ME AND MRS YAN, OUR PERSONALITIES MESH SO WELL. HENCE, WE ARE ABLE TO MAKE DECISIONS WHILE RESPECTING OUR RESPECTIVE OPINIONS”
– MISS JUN YING
“EACH OF US ARE IN CHARGE OF DIFFERENT RESPONSIBILITIES. WE COVER FOR EACH OTHER AS NEEDED, ALLOWING FLEXIBILITY FOR THE OTHER PERSON.”
– MISS YAN
MOVING FORWARD
“Rome wasn’t built in a day”, an old adage which attests to the essence of time and effort. For the flow of time is ceaseless and unrelenting, Miss Yan and Miss Jun Ying are continually aspiring to better the ambitions of other competitors. With ongoing R&D efforts and the support of their parent company, 3Q , Supersenji are looking to carry more products and agents to their ranks.
With their impeccable knowledge and expertise, the duo will continue to mentor and impart their skills and know-how to newcomers. As such, the future of Supersenji certainly appears promising with Miss Yan and Miss Jun Ying at the helm.
