Behind every great student is a journey of patience, discovery, and a passionate educator who refuses to treat learning like an assembly line. Founded by Ms Bian Jie, Lexue Learning Centre has carved out a unique space in Singapore’s academic landscape by challenging conventional, mass-produced tuition models in favour of a deeply personalized, student-centric approach, an achievement recently celebrated with its recognition for the Prestige 100 Singapore 2026/2027 award.

The story of Lexue Learning Centre began with a vision rooted in empathy and dedication. Before establishing the centre, Ms Bian transitioned from a clinical background in the medical field to the realm of education. Motivated by a desire to better align her professional life with her children’s growth and to truly understand Singapore’s academic ecosystem from the ground up, she embarked on a mission to build a learning space where students are never treated as mere numbers. This foundational ethos is captured directly in the company’s name, “Lexue” (乐学), which embodies the core philosophy that children should learn happily and find genuine a sense of achievement within their studies (“乐在其中,学有所成”).

As an official Ministry of Education (MOE)-registered institution, Lexue caters to students ranging from 4 to 16 years old, spanning preschool levels like K1 and K2 all the way to Secondary 4. Rather than relying on generic, off-the-shelf commercial textbooks, the centre takes pride in crafting proprietary, localized learning materials tailored precisely to local academic demands. For the preschool and lower primary cohorts, where building a lasting affinity for the language is most critical, lessons move away from dry exercise books. Instead, they incorporate picture-word recognition (PWR) and story-based learning, ensuring that newly acquired vocabulary comes alive through narrative contexts.

At the upper primary and secondary levels, where national examinations introduce rigorous performance metrics, Lexue deploys advanced, structured frameworks to tackle common student pain points. Recognizing that oral examinations carry substantial weight in national assessments, such as 25% of the total score in the PSLE, the centre utilizes strategic frameworks like the PEEL and SER methods. These techniques train students to logically elaborate, explain, and draw upon personal experiences to articulate structured viewpoints. Similarly, composition writing is broken down using mind-mapping and sensory-rich descriptive tools, effectively dismantling composition anxiety by teaching students how to harness action, dialogue, and emotional depth.

Maintaining educational excellence while preserving individual attention requires a careful operational balance. Lexue strictly adheres to small class sizes, typically capping groups at six to eight students. This deliberate choice ensures high engagement and allows educators to closely monitor every child’s progress. To keep quality high without inflating operational costs, the centre avoids heavy commercial advertising and expensive location overheads, channelling its resources instead into continuous curriculum updates and fair educator compensation.

Behind every classroom success is a team of educators carefully selected by Ms Bian. When hiring, academic qualifications are only part of the equation; patience, emotional intelligence, empathy, and an unwavering sense of responsibility are held as the ultimate benchmarks. Furthermore, the centre champions a tripartite partnership involving teachers, parents, and students. Ms Bian firmly believes that academic breakthroughs happen when families and educators stand united through a child’s learning milestones, fostering an encouraging environment where setbacks are met with collaborative support rather than blame.

Looking forward, Lexue Learning Centre continues to look for ways to support students comprehensively. With upcoming expansions into primary-level English, Mathematics, and Science, the institution remains steadfast in its original promise: keeping the joy of learning alive while equipping every student with the tools they need to thrive.
